Pok Awi is one of the three famous master boat builders in Pulau Duyong. His employee, Azman (this page), learned the art of boat building from his father who in turn had been apprenticed to a towkay, or Chinese boss. Borhanuddin (photograph below) joined his father when he was 18. Now 26, he cannot imagine living any life but this.
