Susila and Sara, stall owners and best friends
Tanjung Bungah Market, Penang
It was tragedy that brought Susila and Sara. They met when, as young widows, they set up food stalls next to each other at the Tanjung Bungah market. Over the years, they have shared the ups and downs of life as single mothers with young children to raise. Now, 20 years later, life is much easier with their children grown up and independent. However, they faithfully open their stalls every day, each saying that she will continue as long as her best friend needs her.
