Osman Mydin, record shop manager and music lover

Osman’s father came to Penang from northern India as a boy in 1901. He became a newspaper deliveryman and when the time came, settled down and fathered 11 children. Life must have been hard but Osman remembers his father as a man who loved music, especially the songs of his homeland, a love he passed on to his son.

After a couple of decades working all over Asia and Saudi Arabia as a contractor, Osman returned to Penang and found the perfect job. For the last 30 years he has been managing this little shop which sells only records and cassette tapes of Hindi music. Life has a funny way of coming full circle.
